Mukuntuweep RV Park & Campground is a nature lover's paradise located just outside the east entrance to one of the United States' most dramatic and colorful national parks.
Regardless of whether you decide to hike, drive, or take a tour through the park, you will experience the splendor of spectacular waterfalls, gigantic sculpted rock formations, a canyon, hanging gardens and desert terrain all around you. For a panoramic view of the canyon below, hike up the two and one-half mile steep path from the Grotto Picnic Area to the summit of Angels Landing. Across the canyon from the Landing is the Great White Throne. Water washing down on the iron content in the large monolith has bleached its color from white at the top to a deep red at its base. For the best view of the western side of the canyon, follow the canyon Overlook Trail from the east end of Zion Tunnel. From the east side of the canyon, you can see the Altar of Sacrifice, the Beehives and the Sentinel. The west side affords a view of Bridge Mountain, East Temple, Twin Brothers, and the Mountain of the Sun. To see a phenomenal act of nature, follow the Gateway to the Narrows Trail to a part of the canyon that is 1,000 feet deep and less than 20 feet wide at the bottom. The 1-mile paved trail begins at the Temple of Sinawava and traverses the Virgin River to the beginning of the narrow section of the canyon. |
