Description: Not many years ago [(Glen Canyon)] was a maze of canyons carved by the ferocious Colorado River. It's so long that you can drive a boat for hours in the main channel. If you stop to explore the side canyons, it could take you days or weeks to see their ends. This 1,869 square miles known as Lake Powell is a majestic body of water hosting a dramatic 1,960 miles of shorelines, longer than entire west coast of the United States. These miles of deep, clean and cool water are ideal for boating, waterskiing, exploring and fishing. The lake contains largemouth, smallmouth, and stripped bass, walleyed pike, catfish, crappie, and northern pike. The tourist can use their own boat or [(rent a houseboat or ski boat)] at one of the many modern marinas. Water tours to [(Rainbow Bridge)] and the Indian cliff dwelling called [(Defiance House)] or the pioneer trail known as [(Hole in the Rock)] offer some wonderful short hikes originating from the shoreline. Daily [(visitor tours)] run through out the year at the National Park center on the dam. Waterskiing, scuba diving, swimming, hiking, backpacking and exploring are popular activities in the recreation area. The lake has several large, fully equipped [(marinas)] with visitor services available for houseboat and power boat rentals, fishermen supplies, or overnight [(camping accommodations)] and [(food service)]. Campgrounds and [(lodging)] are available year-round. Other [(Marinas)] are located at strategic locations the length of Lake Powell.

Season: This National Recreation Area is open year round. The area has low humidity and lots of sunshine. October is the wettest month of the year, averaging 1.2". The water temperature of lake Powell averages 75 degrees.

Location: Wahweap Marina is located 64 miles south west of Kanab, Utah on U.S. Highway 89.
