Down south in "Utah's Park Central Country" is found a powerful geologic wonder, [(Zion National Park)]. Zion, established in 1919, is one of the nation's oldest national parks. Over the years this profound national park has fascinated visitors in different ways. Legend has it the Paiute Indians were superstitious about "I-u-goone" Zion Canyon and refused to stay there after dark. To the Mormon pioneers it was a heaven of beauty resembling a natural place to worship, and they called it "Little Zion". An early minister of religion was so awe-struck with the beauty of the canyon, he gave many of the towers and cliffs biblical names such as the [(Three Patriarchs)],[(Angels Landing)], and the [(Great White Throne)]. As visitors Gaze up at the massive sculpted cliffs that rise 3,000 feet into the sky, they find themselves sparked with a sense of wonder at the grandeur of Utah's oldest national park. Season:Open all year. Weather conditions change with topography and elevation. March receives the most rain. Afternoon rain are common in the late summer. Summer days are hot, nights are cool. In the winter, snowfall is light in the canyon, heavier on the plateaus.
